Discover Gundungurra Country with a Buunyal tour
The whole family can now learn about Indigenous lore and culture at Scenic World.
Start your experience with a ride on the world’s steepest train - the Scenic Railway - into the valley where you’ll walk beneath the rainforest canopy with your guide. Hear their stories and connections to Country, learn about native plants and animals, the different seasons, and more. Then enjoy a dreamtime story of the formation of the Jamison Valley on the Scenic Skyway, 270m above the rainforest.
With a maximum of 12 people per tour and taking around 120 minutes, you’ll enjoy an intimate and personalised experience of Gundungurra Country that is truly unique.
Tours run Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (subject to guide availability). Check the tickets calendar for upcoming times and dates.
The Buunyal tour, the only experience of its kind in the Blue Mountains, celebrates adults and kids connecting with Country, and was developed by Uncle David King, a Gundungurra Custodian, and Indigenous Engagement Officer at Scenic World. All tours are hosted by an Indigenous guide.
Buunyal Dilly Bag
Deepen your experience with your very own Buunyal Dilly Bag - a cloth drawstring bag decorated with the Buunyal artwork by Kelsie King, a Gundungurra artist.
Each bag contains a box of pencils, notebook, colouring book of native Australian animals, and a message stick (message sticks are used for long-distance communication across Australia) – perfect for walking on Country and for the kids to capture their very own story.
Buunyal Dilly Bags are not included in the ticket price.
ONLINE EXCLUSIVE ONLY: save 10% when you buy your Buunyal Dilly Bag online.
A Dilly Bag is a traditional Aboriginal bag which is generally woven and used by women to gather food. They can also be used by men for example to help carry tools for hunting.
